Here’s a rare peek into my closet, with a little bit of vintage thrown in of course! For this edition of One Piece Many Ways (where I’m linking up with Audrey over at Putting Me Together), I chose to style a silver sequined tank top. This is the kind of thing that on the face of it might not seem very versatile, but I find myself wearing it pretty often. I just treat it as a neutral tank and throw it on under any number of dressy and casual outfits.
Let’s start on the dressy end. This is an outfit that I’d wear out for dinner or drinks with the girls. This tank is actually silk and the front is completely covered in sequins. I styled it up with short black shorts and high heels, plus a vintage clutch that I have for sale in my Etsy store.

Shorts: J. Crew (here)
Clutch: Vintage (available for purchase here SOLD, similar)
Shoes: Nine West, old (similar, similar)
I don’t work in an office any more, but when I did, I wore this with the sweater buttoned up during the day and unbuttoned for happy hour or a networking event in the evening. The key here is toning down the makeup with low-key eyes and a neutral lip. A bold lip or a smokey eye would take this out of the professional realm. Plus, if you work in a very conservative office, sequins probably aren’t appropriate, but in a creative or casual office, a little shimmer can be okay.

Finally, here is the outfit I wore to Weschler’s when I went to get my Van Oorschot paintings evaluated. It’s perfect for casual days when you want to be a little more dressed up than shorts and Jacks. Sure, you could go with a plain pink or white tank under the chambray here, but sparkly sequins are just more fun.

Skirt: Benetton, old (similar, similar)
Shoes: Banana Republic, old (similar, similar)
This skirt is also excellent for twirling. |
So there you have it. Three very different outfits for three very different contexts.
Would you wear sequins during the day?
So great that you mixed it up for different occasions in life! And what a fun twirling skirt!
I love that skirt. I've had it for years and it's still the first thing I reach for every spring. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
