Delightfully Etsy {Edition #2}

Back when Etsy was shiny and new, there were lots of features in magazines and design blogs on their favorite Etsy shops and items. Skinny Laminx became a household name after a series of features on Design*Sponge. I found my first Etsy vintage love (who has since closed down sadly) via a feature on Decor8. But as design bloggerdom’s signature blogs have grown and Etsy has become just one more place we search when we’re shopping for the perfect something, the Etsy-specific features seem to have dropped off. So with that in mind, I’ve created a new series, Delightfully Etsy, to share some of my favorite shops and items. I started with the first edition of Delightfully Etsy last month and featured Janet Hill Studio, Big City Small Town Vintage, Cufflinks & Cowboy Boots, Frisky Scissors and The Tilissimo.

Dipper Vintage

Dipper Vintage is one of the first shops I check when I’m looking for mid century modern perfection. I love the way her shop is organized by color. And she is so careful and knowledgeable when it comes to identifying and describing her items. Expect to see lots of Catherineholm, Heath Ceramics, Arabia Finland and lots of other big name mid century modern designers and makers. Seriously, if you love vintage oddities and mid century modern housewares, this is the place to shop.

2 of 2

2 of 2 is a rather new Etsy shop that has really taken off quickly. Their small decorative houses in wood and acrylic are simple, but stylish and the perfect adornment for nearly any vignette. These would look charming on any bookcase or mantle, dressed up for any season. Plus I just love the little extra unexpected touches on each house. This house has a coppery rose gold paint, which is my favorite color for fall. When I first saw their work, I was also surprised by their pricing, which seems very fair. I’m always on the lookout for simple accessories and right now 2 of 2 is at the top of my list!

Winged World

The new “it” animal is undisputedly foxes. Since last winter, anything foxy has been selling like hotcakes, from this Old Navy sweater that everyone coveted (and similar, this year’s Old Navy fox sweater) to Paper Source’s new fox wrapping paper. So this print of Winged World‘s fox painting on an old library card catalog card caught my attention immediately. There are so many different styles to choose from though! This geometric faceted one caught my interest, as did this autumn leaf. Perfect for scrapbooking or hanging a little bit of tiny art on your gallery wall, I’d snap up a few of these and keep them around for projects! Oh, and Winged World also sells vintage so if you’re a fan of brass and ceramic animals (who isn’t?!) check out the vintage section as well.

Michy Creations

Upcycling my trash can to better fit the current look of my bath has me looking anew at perfecting details in every room of our home. For fabric covered coasters, thumbtacks and magnets in every color, pattern and style Michy Creations has me giving all my coasters and magnets the stink-eye. I also really need an inspiration board in our newly decorated office and I think these orange thumbtacks would make the perfect addition. These candy corn coasters would make a cute seasonal hostess gift and for a vintage blue-green kitchen, why not upgrade your magnets? Shop now and order a selection before the holidays come around so you’re ready with little gifts.

Merilin’s Retro

Merilin’s Retro is based in Estonia and offers vintage Soviet era objects. I’ve been particularly taken with the clocks and telephones, but everything in the shop is great. The clock above is a vintage Soviet alarm clock that has a nautical theme. Plus, if you’re looking for a vintage Russian gas mask to complete a Halloween costume, you can snap one up right here! I’m a child of the 80s so I’m particularly enamored of the idea of buying things from Estonia. I could never have imagined such a thing would be possible while I was growing up. Isn’t the internet amazing?

Do you have an Etsy shop? I’d love to hear from Etsy sellers who would like to be featured on Pies & Puggles. I can’t guarantee I will choose to feature your shop, but leave me a note in the comments and I will check it out!
